The Agricultural Association of the Czech Republic (AA CZ) is successor of The Union of co-operative farmers. In 2008 we remembered ourselves forty years anniversary establishing of our organization. AA CZ is one of the biggest non-governmental agricultural organizations in the Czech Republic and is the biggest employers organization in Czech rural areas. Our organization was being built as business and employer association under the Act of Law No. 83/1990 and is fully opened for both - the corporate bodies and individuals.

Our organization consists of 1 003 members, who perform their activities on one third of the agricultural farm land of the Czech Republic of which are 472 commercial companies, 407 members are co-operative farms, 22 market organizations and other members, 75 are companies owned by individuals and finally, 25 members are regional organizations which are registered individually. Our members are giving working opportunity to almost one half of the total number of employees working in the agricultural sector of the Czech Republic economy.

Basic structure of our organization is formed by and on regional organizations. We have introduced structure "bottom-up" with simultaneous direct elections of respective delegates, including elections of President, Statutory Vice-President and Vice-Presidents in whole the republic Conference, which is the supreme decisive body. Last Conference was organized on 6th November, 2008 where 12 chairmen of Regional Councils-members of AA CZ Presidency were directly nominated and were also elected. Electoral term of these deputies will expire in the year 2011, when new elections would take a place.

In accordance with our basic documents- Programme Act of Conference and Status , the Agricultural Association of the Czech Republic fulfils mainly functions in sectors supporting co-operative agriculture enterpreneuring, plays role of the employer, supports international co-operation and relations with EU and AC as we would like to be for the future to come modern and flexible organization, which in co-operation with all the European colleagues and organizations would like to defend dimension of the European agriculture on domestic as well as on the international market.

In the year 2004, our organizations became full member of COPA/COGECA and we engaged ourselves into the work of C/C working parties, as well as into work of EC Standing Committees. Agriculture Association of the Czech Republic also actively works on the national level on the floor of so called “Tripartity” - this is an advisory body to Czech government consisting of representatives of government, employers and unions. We closely co-operate with Agrarian Chamber of the Czech Republic due to the fact, that our activities are not the very same and our positions in the Czech administrations differ. As we - AA CZ is mostly fulfilling the role of employer and agricultural entrepreneur including specific position of our organization in the Czech Council for Economic and Social Dialogue - Tripartity, the Agrarian Chamber of the Czech Republic was found and has been acting in accordance with the Act of Law concerning Czech Economic Chamber.
